The PowerKing PK0803-TB/PK0803-EH 14Hp stump grinder is a powerful machine that obliterates anything in its way.
This unit is powered by Kohlers Command PRO 14HP CH440 that includes a 3-year warranty. Also, the 14HP engine powers dual V-belts, which rotate the 9 carbide-tipped cutting teeth at a high rate of speed. The teeth branch out in 3 directions for a wide cutting path for faster grinding. And the cutting wheel of this stump grinder is 12-inch diameter and is 3.5 inches thick, so it pulverizes stumps 20 inches above the ground and 9 inches below the ground. Most importantly, Power King high-quality guarantee that your equipment will last through the years. It counts with dual safety shutoffs and an adjustable bow handle. PowerKing equipment always focuses on the quality of the product; in addition to that, it provides safety and control to the operator.
And now, the engine can be turned on with the twist of the key with the new electric start feature!
Choose if you want the MANUAL START (PK0803-TB) or ELECTRIC START (PK0803-EH) in the options box.

Well made, powerful, easy to use, first pull start, reasonable pricing, fast shipping, well packaged and outstanding Powerking CS. Convinced any bad reviews are the result of user error or incompetence. It’s not hard to use if you understand leverage and set the control handle to the right position. Frequently remove the debris from wheel area, a leaf blower is the fastest easiest way. Use the storage stand as a guide to where the cutting teeth are going to contact the stump. Don’t be overly aggressive, let the machine do the work. You can tackle large diameter stumps too, course it’ll take longer, but it’s fully capable of doing them. Highly recommend and would buy again if need be.

I am very pleased with the purchase. I ground 5 stumps ranging from 14″ to 28″ in about 4.5 hours with it. Total on the hour meter was 1.91 hours. All of them were fairly recently cut down. None of them were “old” stumps. I am 69 and I’m sure I would have had an easier time doing it 40-50 years ago, but it was quite manageable.

It cuts all stumps with no problem. Seems like a very good and durable piece of equipment. Easy Assembly. The only thing I would recommend is having another person to spot. It is very hard to see what you are grinding, especially after there is debris in the way. Anyway, would buy it again.

It started smoking, put too much oil perhaps.

Works very well, have remove around 50 stumps on the first set of carbides . The stump varied in size from 5 inches to maybe 24 inches averaging 10 to 12 inches I would guess. Carbides should be replaced at this point. Carbides should be torqued before each use as well as air filter cleaned when working in dusty environment. Maintenance is critical on this type of hard working equipment .

Not a bad stump grinder for the price. We have had a few things rattle off but we’re easy and quick to fix. Works really well. Fairly quick on the grinding process. Whis there were some better instructions for assembly besides the three pictures we had, luckily we are pretty good at figuring things out took less then an hour to assemble and same for grinding a two foot stump.

First of all, let me say that this is probably the best stump grinder for the amount of money that is out there on the market. The engine choice is outstanding, Runs great, plenty of power and gets the job done without beating you to death as I thought it would. Now for the negatives. The factory torque on the cutter teeth is 60 foot lbs and non of my teeth were even close to that setting. Some moved at 35 foot lbs. You will need a block of 2×6 wood 10 inches long set on its side to tighten the teeth that are on the down stroke of the wrench or pulling the wrench toward the ground. You will nee d short piece of 2×4 to slide in between the teeth and the upper shield to lock down those that you are tightening on the upstroke of your torque wrench. Take a paint pen to put an arrow on the disk the teeth mount to so you will know when you come back to the starting point. The bolts for the bearing blocks are also loose. No setting for those just make sure that they are tight. Most important. Everytime you put your unit up torque all 18 bolts on your teeth and hit the bearing blocks with a grease gun. this way it is ready to go when you go at it next time. Also take a yard blower and blow out the wood chips from the air intake and fins of your motor. The wiring had issues on my unit. When they inserted the locking pins into the wiring connectors they did it on the wrong side on some of my connectors and they did not lock. This caused my motor to not turn off until I found and fixed the problem. The wiring could be improved with this unit. Again, This is a great unit is you treat it right. Keep the oil changed, teeth bolts tight and bearings lubed and the motor and air filter blown out and it should give you many years of service. When you assemble the unit watch the brake drum assembly. The paint stopped mine from going full seated where it should go. I put some grease on the shaft and make it go fully onto the axle. See the attached pictures of a Maple stump and roots that I took out first.

So like everyone else who purchased this stump grinder, i was a little hesitant Because i wasnt totally sold on the power king products But for the price and how could you go wrong with a kohler motor, i am happy i gave this a shot. 1st thing i will suggest is to remove every bolt and reinstall with lockight. This will pervent any bolt from coming lose while in use. Second, make sure that the rpm’s (throttle) is all of the way on before making a cut. Then take off a little of the stump at a time as you pivot left to right. Take your time and before you know it your stump will be gone. The 1st stump i removed was around 36” round about 16” out of the ground. It took around 25 min to remove the stump. The machine worked flawlessly. I am very pleased with the way it handled and the wat it cut. It will take a little getting used to but after a few stumps you will be all set. Take care of your machine and it will take care of you. For the money i highly recommend

This thing is brutal on stumps. I have never removed one but with this machine it’s fun. My stump was 24″ or so and it ate through it like butter. The machine creates a nice wood mash that will be good for the soil too. Assembly is simple and I didn’t have a problem with putting it together – refer to the exploded diagram if you get stuck. The engine started fine on 1st or second pull and has more than enough power to get the job done. I added 1oz of Moly/oil mix through the spark plug hole before initial start and worked it in with pull starter. Everything on this machine worked perfect. I am very happy with the purchase.

This grinder was very easy to assemble, I didn’t even have to refer to the assembly instructions so I don’t know if they are good instructions. I read in other reviews that some of the bolts came loose after short periods of usage so I removed all the bolts that are used to secure the grinding teeth and put some thread lock on them but to be honest I don’t think that was even necessary as all the bolts have a lock washer on them and they were all nice and tight but better to be safe than sorry. This thing has worked great and made short work of every stump and root that I have used it on. I have 11 acres and so far I have used it on 10 oak stumps and a lot of roots that were sticking up above the ground and it has worked flawlessly. This thing came with an extra set of teeth so when ever I do need to change them out I will be good to go. If you are considering purchasing this stump grinder rest assured it will do the job, don’t let the negative reviews sway you.
